  • Word on the street is that Leopard (10.5) will have a a much broader set of System wide parental controls.
  • Nice... Where'd you hear that? (other than 'on the street')
  • I dont know how to change my password once i have set it. I havt forgotten it, can anyone help me please?
  • Try this:

    1. Click the Apple in the upper right (finder)
    2. Click System Preferences
    3. Look for the "System" section
    4. Click "Accounts"
    5. Click "Change Password"
  • You can easily disable itunes parental controls on a mac by following these instructions:
You will need a property list editor like Omni Outliner, or something like that.

First you will go to Users/your user name/library/preferences/com.apple.itune s.plist. You will then open that file with the property list editor. Next you will scroll down and find "disableMusicStore",disablePodcasts..." change the yes to no to enable it again. Now save the file and reopen iTunes.
  • There are no parental controls on what i-tunes puts up as free "discovery downloads" when you are not logged in. This became apparent to me as a parent of a young girl who, with no account, just surfed over on her i-touch and clicked on a free promo to hear Lady Gaga talk about the "donkey dick" she had hidden away in her getup. Try explaining that one away. Does i-tunes consider that rated for all ages?
